Whether you are looking at getting new insurance, experienced a fire or water loss, a vandalism or break in, it is so important to have an accurate inventory of your home. Having an accurate inventory can help you purchase the right amount of insurance to make sure everything is covered but that you aren’t overpaying. It can also make filing a claim easier. Most people can’t remember what they have stashed away in their attic, kitchen cabinets or their over-stuffed storage room on a normal day but especially after a disaster like a fire or water loss.
An easy way to start inventorying is to simply walk through your home and take a video or photos of each room. There are also free forms that can be found online and apps to help you create a detailed inventory list. Just remember, don’t get overwhelmed and stick with it! An incomplete inventory is better than no inventory at all.

Every year, SERVPRO of Barron, Dunn & Rusk Counties enjoys participating in events throughout the communities we serve. After last, these events mean so much more and we truly enjoy getting out and seeing everyone again!
Boyceville Cucumber Festival – This event is definitely a highlight for us every year! The theme this year was Return of the Pickle. Pickle Fest includes fun festival- festival long events like a tractor show, petting zoo and softball tournament. We also love the horse parade and Grand Parade! If you have never been to the Cucumber Festival, you should definitely come check it out next year!
Trunk or Treat – This event hosted by the Boyceville CAC had such a fantastic turnout this year for Halloween! It was so fun to see all of the kids dressed up and having fun. Our Marketing Manager, Breanna, dressed our SERVPRO car up as Frankenstein!
United Way of Dunn County Sponsor a Family – This year was the first time we have participated in United Way of Dunn County’s Sponsor a Family for the Holiday Season but it certainly will not be the last time! This is a fantastic program to help brighten a family’s holiday season. Sponsors are provided a profile of the family they are sponsoring which includes the ages and needs/ wants of each family member. It you’re looking for a wonderful wat to keep the true spirit of the holidays next year, contact United Way of Dunn County!
West Cap’s Holiday Gift Program – This is another program that helps brighten the holidays! We participate in this program every year. One year later

Well, we are officially one year into this pandemic! When this craziness started, I do not think there is a single person that thought it would last this long. All of our lives have been changed in one way or another.
SERVPRO as a company has become bigger and stronger through it all. Our company as a whole has grown greatly. We have developed more ways to clean and sanitize. Our Covid Certified: SERVPRO Cleaned program has become a huge hit! They leave everything clean and completely sanitized and leave our customers happy. We as a franchise have proven even through the toughest and the most stressful times, we rise above and are a great TEAM! Teamwork makes the dream work! Giving sprit is the way we are here at SERVPRO of Barron Dunn and Rusk Counties. We love to see the smiling faces in our communities (even through the masks) We serve over 13 counties in northern Wisconsin. Our main goal is to make sure our customers are always happy. This year even with the COVID-19 pandemic that has been going on for over a year now, our marketing team has been able to make our rounds. We did have to stay in the office for about eight months but right before Christmas we were able to go out and deliver some wonderful cookies to our clients. We were also able to help our local communities with a couple donations. They were very appreciative! We always want to bring smiles to as many people as we can through these dark times.

Dry Sponge Cleaning

We at SERVPRO of Barron Dunn and Rusk Counties want you to be happy as can be. WE also know that not everyone can stand the smell of our products. And not every surface can be cleaned with a wet solution. That is why we offer our dry sponge cleaning. Here are some helpful tips about our dry sponge cleaning.
We use a dry sponge because on some porous surfaces when you put something, we on a soot covered wall, the soot will absorb into the surface causing it to stain. Dry sponges are mainly used for cleaning area that are very porous that we cannot wash with any kind of liquid. They are made more of a rubber then a sponge material. They do not leave a residue whatsoever.

With all the uncertainty of Covid-19 novel coronavirus, SERVPRO of Barron, Dunn, & Rusk Counties understands the questions that may arise. Is SERVPRO taking precautions? Is SERVPRO training all its franchise owners and technicians with proper cleaning techniques? The answer to both of these is yes, at SERVPRO we treat every virus as serious as it is, that is why we offer ULV fogging, proper hand washing with various products. This can help your place of business or home if you are worried if anyone you have been in contact with may be infected. At SERVPRO of Barron, Dunn, & Rusk Counties we are here for you for all Emergency Services 24 hours a day 7 days a week. But with that being said we are also not putting any of our employees or customers at risk during this time. Our offices have been closed for almost two weeks and we will be back in office on Thursday, April 2nd. We are taking all precautionary procedures to protect our employees and customers. We will have a checklist for when our crews are going into homes, and we are all set up with the proper PPE to better serve you.

Document Restoration

Do you have a place of business that handles a lot of documents? What happens if there is a water loss? Who is going to take care of those documents? Instead of using a subcontractor, keep it green! Document Restoration Services are now available through SERVPRO of Barron, Dunn, and Rusk Counties.
Our team, along with the help of the Document Restoration team if necessary, will inventory the documents at the site of the loss, pack them up, then ship them to SERVPRO Corporate. In some cases, cold storage or refrigerated trucks may be needed, but the Document Restoration team will advise and assist where necessary. Once documents arrive, the boxes will be inventoried, placed in cold storage if necessary, and the drying process will begin.
The Document Restoration Team uses sublimation, this turns a solid directly into a vapor, skipping the liquid stage to avoid causing more damage to the documents. This process can recover even the most delicate items, from documents to photographs and x-rays, to entire business archives. Depending on the type of job, documents can also be decontaminated, cleaned, deodorized, and even digitized.
Some of the services include cleaning which involves the Document Restoration Team which will go through each box page by page to wipe down and remove dirt, soot, or other contaminants.
There are 3 levels of cleaning based on the type of soiling, and how heavy it is.
Many times documents that have been affected will hold residual smells of contaminants, or mildew, and should be deodorized before being returned to your client.
With the new age of technology, digitizing records and documents has become a standard practice in most industries. This eliminates the need to have massive file storage rooms and allows us to access records at the click of a button. If your file room was damaged by water or smoke and needs to be cleaned, dried or decontaminated, digitizing might be a good choice to eliminate the need to have hundreds or even thousands of documents and records in your storage.
In a CAT 3 situation (sewage or flood water), documents are not only deteriorating but are also infected with all types of bacteria. In most storm situations, you are dealing with CAT 3 water; therefore, most of the affected documents you encounter will be contaminated. Gamma irradiation is a process used for cleaning/disinfecting and decontaminating documents or other consumer goods.
If this is the case, decontamination is always a must. In living cells, these disruptions result in damage to the DNA and other cellular structures. These photon-induced changes at the molecular level cause the death of the organism or render the organism incapable of reproduction. The gamma process does not create residuals or impart radioactivity in processed products.
Unfortunately, many businesses and government agencies have to dispose of counterfeit, faulty, expired or contaminated materials. All entities need to be certified that their products and materials are destroyed. The guarantee of certified destruction is to protect one’s liabilities, brand image or proprietary information.

We wanted to give away a dinner, a donation to the Breast Cancer Charity of the winners choice, and a Breast Cancer Awareness tank to someone who has either been affected by Breast Cancer or someone who wanted to honor someone affected.
